About Mark

Mark Branner is the performer, writer, and producer of Funny Bones, a very funny show about very serious subjects. Mark has toured nationally with various groups, including Diavolo, and performed extensively in Asia, most notably in chuanju (Sichuan Opera), a regional Chinese theatre form. He and his family operate CiRCO Redempto, a community outreach program designed to benefit children from the Nosu Yi minority nationality of central China. He is also a Professor of Theatre at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and teaches courses in physical comedy, puppetry, mask, and theater for young audiences. Born in Hollywood but raised primarily in Taiwan, Mark returned to the U.S. to attend college, whereupon he quickly dropped a scholarship from UCLA to work as a clown with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

About Serina

Serina Otonari Dunham is a resident ensemble member of HTY (Honolulu Theatre for Youth), Hawaii’s only professional theatre company. In addition, she is part of the creative team behind the three time Emmy® winning TV show The HI Way, which has been airing online and in Hawaii since the beginning of the pandemic. Serina is also a co-founder of Bento Rakugo, a storytelling group using the Japanese traditional sit-down comedy form of rakugo. Born and raised in Nara, Japan, Serina received her BA in Theatre at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, and has been performing in the Honolulu theatre community ever since.
